EU Center Recognizes Student Papers on the EU

May 25, 2011

In order to encourage students to think about the European Union when writing their research papers for college classes, the European Union Center sponsored its first annual EU College Research Paper Competition.  University undergraduates from across Indiana and Ohio were invited to submit papers on EU’s role as an international actor or on the relationship between the EU and the US.  We had many interesting submissions, and we are now please to announce this year’s winners:

1.  Jacob Clough, Wabash College:
EU-NATO Cooperation: Closer Than Ever, or Non-Existent?

2.  Caitlin May Cooper, Indiana University-Purdue University Ft. Wayne (IPFW):
European Neighborhood Policy and Eastern Partnership: More or Less than a Blueprint for Reform?

3.  Micheal Shanabarger, IPFW
Kosovo and the European Union

This event will be held again in 2012 and we encourage students from across the two states to think about writing papers for the second annual competition.  First prize will again be €200.  For more information, contact the Indiana University European Union Center at or (812) 856-3832.

We look forward to your entries!
