Fall 2010 Film Series: Immigration and Migration through the Cinematic Lens
Film: Good morning, Aman (2009) by Claudio Noce

Aman is a twenty-year old Somali who arrived in Rome at the age of four after escaping from Mogadishu’s war-torn streets. The Italian Teodoro is a former boxer whose past mistakes continue to haunt him. The pair forms an unlikely friendship, and for different reasons they prefer to entertain escapist fantasies in order to distance themselves from ever-marginal existences. Noce’s realistic depiction of Rome’s cityscapes illustrates the often harsh realities of those who live at the edges of Italian society.
