1. WENDE Flicks – DDR/DDR

Kicking off a week of events for the grand festival finale of the Indiana University DEFA Project…Together with the School of Fine Arts and the Ryder, the IU DEFA Project is featuring a unique cinematic experience. Independent American filmmaker and installation/video artist Amie Siegel will present her essayistic film on the former East Germany from a contemporary perspective, DDR/DDR (2008). Siegel is also an assistant professor at Harvard University and her work has shown at numerous of prestigious venues worldwide (The Berlin Film Festival, The Whitney Museum of Art, Film Forum, The Pacific Film Archive, etc.). She is one of the most influential video/installation artists of her generation.

Please come and join us for Amie Siegel’s first trip to Bloomington on Sunday, April 18. She will be giving a short artist’s talk in the IU Fine Arts Auditorium (FA015), starting at 1pm. The screening of her film DDR/DDR begins at 2pm. As always, the film is FREE and open to the public!

2. “Changing US-European Relations in the 21st Century”

Wednesday, April 21

5:00 PM, Ballantine Hall 144

Tyler Drumheller, former chief of the European Division, Central Intelligence Agency, will be speaking about the changing relations between Europe and the United States.
