Part of WEST’s mission is to provide professional development to K-12 teachers.  This summer, WEST will be offering its third annual language teacher summer workshop:

Designed for junior high and high school teachers of French, German, and Spanish, this hands-on interactive workshop will guide you through the insights on European cultural identity by exploring the visual arts and cultures.  Indianapolis Museum of Art staff will talk about approaches to viewing art and we will tour the IU Art Museum.  There will also be a special presentation by Frank Cammuso, political cartoonist and graphic novelist.  Participants will work with fellow language teachers to develop creative and engaging lesson plans.

A non-refundable registration fee of $25 will cover your 2-night stay, meals, and all materials.  In addition, IU graduate credit and certification renewal units (CRUs) are available.  For more information and to register, please visit the workshop’s website: http://www.indiana.edu/~west/outreach_k12workshop_2010.shtml.  The registration deadline is April 26, but we encourage you to apply early, as space is limited.
