Nächste Haltestelle: London?

March 10, 2010

Deutsche Bahn (DB) looks to be on the move again, this time to the UK. EuroTunnel, the company that manages and operates Channel Tunnel connecting the UK to France, announced that German high speed rail service could be crossing the Straight of Dover by 2012. This would mean no pesky Aussteig-ing en route from Franfurt a.M. to London. Currently EuroStar is the primary passenger rail carrier for the Channel Tunnel. There may be a potential hang up because of train length, DB trains are frequently over the 400 meter limit, but recent shut downs in the “Chunnel” have hurt EuroTunnel’s bottom line. Perhaps DB is just what EuroTunnel needs to get back on track.
